Builder Verlag was founded 2017 as an independent publishing house in Dortmund, Germany.

We believe that not only the making of an artistic work but also its further execution always require conscious decisions about their respective tools. Based on intercultural and multidisciplinary influences and expertise both in image production and editing it is our conviction to awake the visual interpretation of thoughts and experiences through the medium of the crafted book.

May it be in small individualised editions or large numbers for a wider audience, Builder Verlag publications share an uncompromising focus on the interaction of layout and material. Images are regarded as a distinct yet universal language. Their arrangement in sequences, grouping to motifs and connection through tactility extend the classical idea of the photo-book as a medium of single images to the photographic novel.
